In this special episode, we look at a review of the stories and top topic of 2023 we’ve shared in the podcast, and looking ahead to 2024, we share our top 3 things orgnaisations should look at when harnessing digital for human benefit!
Show Notes:
Top 3 News stories we’ve found most important to share (this time, a year’s overview)
1. Socials connect together even more… or not…
This year we had Elon Musk buy Twitter, rename it X, and charge everyone for most things.

TikTok added IMDB support and disconnected Shopify shops to create it’s own TikTok shops

Lesson of the story… don’t just focus on one social platform or plug-in to market, and keep up-to-date with what features are in/out/trials
2. AI was suddenly cool, ChatGPT was in the news! And MS are charging what they like!
ChatGPT 3.0 launched it’s public usage feature in Nov 2022, after OpenAI launched in 2018. It reached 100 million free users in Feb this year (2023) as it became the fun craze to test out.
In June a newer version saw a massive drop in usage because or reported errors increasing, priority going to paid-for users, and people get bored of it “being dumb” and still offering details from 2021!
In July we saw the chatbots fighting with each other for air-time…
In August Chat GPT for Enterprise launched with privacy coverage – https://www.techradar.com/pro/software-services/chatgpt-for-your-business-is-here-and-could-change-everything
Also in August, Microsoft start charging $30 per user per month, to access their AI features “Microsoft 365 CoPilot”!

The pricing represents a 53% to 83% increase in the average monthly cost for business-grade versions of Microsoft 365, which is used by hundreds of millions of workers.
Lesson of the story… don’t expect free features and services to be free forever… especially if you use them everyday or are a critical part of your business operations.
3. Hybrid, Flexible and Work-from-home becomes more “the norm” in 2023
After a year of ironing out the “what do we do next”, testing if people can still communicate with each other in person, and organisations supporting their staff to figure out what works best for them, we now see a more flexible and non-default hybrid of where people work from. Meaning lots of covid-boom software companies are reducing staff, when people are relying of these more than ever.

Lesson of the story… Love Zoom, or MS Teams, but keep up-to-date with both for back-up
