Geeks get-together to Support Charities with Digital

It’s probably shocking to hear that only 14% of charities say that their social media use is very integrated within the organisations’ fundraising strategy, however the technology is making it easier and easier to use digital tools to fundraise, but who’s there to help them?

Digital training and services company, DigiEnable and it’s non-profit arm DiverseGeeks are trying to support local charities and non-profits to harness technologies to help them fundraise, communicate internally and externally, and share their stories with the world.

After many years of running non-profits before starting their own business, DigiEnable’s co-founders Liz Hardwick and Darren Jenkinson, are on a mission to give back to their local Lancashire charities in the best way they know how – facilitating training and conversations and their geeky know-how.

On September the 3rd, DiverseGeeks will be running a Geeks – Meetup – Charities style meetup where geeks and non-profit people get together to support each other.

“It’s great to get the tech community together, they have a wealth of experience and have a real want to give-back, especially with the popular Tech-For-Good movements all over the world. The charities usually want a friendly ear and a geeky point in the right direction, and for those that have limited budget for any sort of technology or marketing support, or just don’t know where to start, this meetup is here to help!” Liz Hardwick shares.

This is hopefully the first of many Tech-For-Good Lancashire events, and we need your help to spread the word.

We are looking for geeks who are willing to share their knowledge, and local charities who want a geeky helping hand.

The first Tech-For-Good Lancashire meetup is happening Tuesday 3rd September 6.30-8.30pm and is being kindly hosted by Childrens Charity Derian House in Chorley.
