Liz was invited to the Chorley Council’s Choose Chorley Annual Business Networking event at the new Strawberry Fields Digital Hub, to speak about Digital, Digital Businesses in Lancashire and Chorley and the Future of Digital.
Liz joined a panel of fellow local business owners and academics including Jeremy Coates (Magma), Martin Rothwell from UCLAN and Paul Croft from Ultimaker. We also heard from Chorley Council’s Leader Alistair Bradley and Swap Shop and Tomorrows World famed, Maggie Philbin OBE.
When asked about the event, Liz shared…
“I was born in Chorley, I grew up in Chorley and I now run my business from Chorley, and it’s great to see our local Council taking digital skills, jobs, and businesses seriously. Chorley Council’s Choose Chorley annual business event this year focused on digital, and we were all welcomed to have a nosy round the new Strawberry Fields Digital Hub which is due to open later this year. It’s great to hear businesses of all kinds talking about AI, Machine Learning, Robotics and 3D printing alongside the ever-important digital skills for business.
Moreover, how improved digital skills can support local businesses in the area to thrive. Chorley has a vibrant business community which we need to support and promote because it is an awesome place to live and do business!
When the panel were asked for final thoughts to sum up the panel discussion, I shared my drive and passion to reduce the number of currently digitally excluded people in the UK – It’s great that we are talking about big-scale digital concepts, but equally we also need to make sure we don’t leave others behind as we progress.”
We love the fact that Chorley are taking Digital seriously, and look forward to supporting businesses to be more digitally savvy in the area! If you need help with your digital skills training and support programme, get in touch with us.
